Pre-care Guidelines

Avoid blood-thinning agents:
Refrain from taking aspirin, ibuprofen, NSAIDs, Vitamin E, fish oil, and herbal supplements like ginkgo biloba or St. John’s Wort for 7 days prior to your appointment, as they can increase the risk of bruising.

Limit alcohol and caffeine consumption for 24 hours before your treatment to minimize bruising.

Cold sore prevention: If you have a history of cold sores, please inform us. We may recommend antiviral medication to prevent an outbreak.

SCHEDULING CONSIDERATONS
Avoid scheduling dental procedures, vaccinations, or other facial treatments for at least 2 weeks before and after your filler appointment.

Post-care Guidelines

MASSAGE
Massaging your skin is crucial to ensure an even distribution of Sculptra® particles. Use a moisturizing cream to help reduce the friction on the skin surface during massage.

THE RULE OF 5
5 minutes vigorous massage on the treatment area, 5 times daily, for 5 days.

ICE
Have an ice pack ready. Apply ice (in a clean washcloth or an ice pack) to the treated area intermittently after treatment to minimize swelling and/or bruising. Avoid direct contact of the ice with the skin.

UV EXPOSURE
Avoid the sun, and extreme temperatures until any initial swelling and redness has been resolved

AVOID CERTAIN ACTIVITIES
Refrain from strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption, and exposure to excessive heat (like saunas or hot tubs) until any initial swelling and redness has been resolved.

SKINCARE AND MAKEUP
Do not apply makeup or skincare products to the treated areas for at least 12 hours post-treatment

SIDE EFFECTS
As with any injection, you may experience some side effects. These include: bleeding, tenderness/discomfort, redness, bruising, swelling. These effects are temporary and should last for only a few days.

FOLLOW-UP TREATMENTS
Wait at least 2 weeks before undergoing any facial massages, laser treatments, or other aesthetic procedures.
